Making your process manageable
Some practical advice on starting small

Start small

Your painted cloths are a starting point. They are giving you a palette to work from, but you don’t need to reuse every bit of what you create in the deconstruction and reconstruction process.

Gwen works with just four patches to create a really detailed and small piece of textile art. The best part about that is, it makes everything more manageable. Remember, you can always add more later.

What if I’ve already patched together everything?

If you have the time to work on a larger piece, that’s great too. This is your Stitch Camp and YOU make the rules!

Or you may decide to make this a more long-term project, adding hand stitch embellishment little by little until you’re happy.

But if that sounds a bit daunting, there’s nothing wrong with taking your scissors to your composition. You could try cutting out your favourite area of the big patched-together cloth and creating a smaller piece for now.

Remember this is a learning experience – it is not about creating something perfect, but rather enjoying the process and knowing that what you discover can lead you somewhere new in future projects.

Thanks for making Stitch Camp such a positive and supportive environment.
